The ownership of Chelsea by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital has confirmed Enzo Maresca as head coach. As his first season at Stamford Bridge draws to a close, Chelsea is in the Conference League final and has the opportunity to qualify for the Champions League. If the Blues can accomplish all of their goals, the 2024–25 season will be remembered as a success.

However, Chelsea is under pressure to perform when it counts most, with three games remaining. To guarantee a spot in the Premier League’s top five, they probably need to win six of their six games. As the Blues attempt to win a trophy, Real Betis awaits them in the Conference League final on May 28 in Wroclaw, Poland.

The Chelsea management will be looking to improve the atmosphere within and around the club by winning the season’s last three games. However, Maresca’s future has been set in stone ahead of the Club World Cup and the 2025–2026 season, regardless of the result at the end of May.

Chelsea set to stick with Maresca for next season

Maresca has been praised by senior officials for his diligence, tactical development, and adjustment to a new set-piece department, a completely redesigned medical structure, and a redesigned recruitment effort.

Perceiving him as the ideal candidate for a prolonged period of leadership, they offered him a five-year contract. With a two-year contract, predecessor Mauricio Pochettino quit after just one season.

The broader multi-club concept of Chelsea’s BlueCo ownership includes Strasbourg, a top-tier French team. Strasbourg is coached by Englishman Liam Rosenior, and both teams play a similar style of football. Both clubs’ academy teams use a modern, possession-based style of play.

Maresca has so far fit well with Chelsea’s contemporary philosophy, and it is anticipated that a coach of a similar caliber will take over in the event of a future manager change. Although they are still adamant that neither Thomas Tuchel nor Pochettino was the ideal fit for Chelsea, the team has previously voiced some remorse at firing Graham Potter before the end of the 2022–2023 campaign.
