Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has delivered a firm and unambiguous message regarding the club’s transfer priorities this summer — a new striker is at the top of the list.

100 Per Cent” – Enzo Maresca confirms major Chelsea transfer plan for Summer

Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s crunch Premier League clash against Manchester United, Maresca addressed the growing concern over the Blues’ lack of cutting edge up front.

His comments followed a frustrating 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United at St. James’ Park, a result that further dented Chelsea’s Champions League hopes.

The pressure is mounting, with just two games left in the season and Champions League qualification hanging by a thread.

Maresca’s men now need to win both remaining fixtures to keep their top-four hopes alive. But the absence of consistent firepower has made the task all the more difficult.

Central to the issue is striker Nicolas Jackson, who saw red in the first half against Newcastle, leaving Chelsea with a mountain to climb.

While Maresca acknowledged Jackson’s growth this season, he didn’t shy away from pointing out the need for added competition up front.

“I’m not able to answer now because I don’t know the other part, if a No. 9 was here,” Maresca said.

“For sure, with us, in my personal opinion, he has grown and improved a lot. Now if another No. 9 was here, is it better for him? I don’t know.”

But when pressed on whether he wants another striker brought in, Maresca didn’t hesitate. “100 per cent,” he replied, confirming Chelsea’s intention to bolster their attack.

It’s a clear signal to the board and fans alike — Chelsea are in the market for a proven goalscorer.

The club’s inconsistency in front of goal has cost them valuable points, and Maresca knows that addressing this area is vital if Chelsea are to compete for top honours next season.

With the summer transfer window approaching, expect the Blues to be active — and aggressive — in their pursuit of a new No. 9.
