The English midfielder returned to Chelsea in January.

However, he was then shipped off to another loan.

Derby County manager Phillip Cocu has singled out Chelsea loanee Conor Gallagher for special praise ahead of his team’s trip to Swansea City in the EFL Championship on Saturday. “I think Gallagher is a great talent. I like the type of player he is. Obviously they have a different striker, Brewster, but the way they approach the game and the way they play, their philosophy doesn’t change,” said the Dutchman.

The 20-year-old joined Charlton Athletic on loan this past summer after winning the 2018-19 Academy Player of the Year award at Chelsea and went on to enjoy a productive spell under Lee Bowyer. The Blues youth graduate registered 6 goals and 2 assists in 26 league appearances for the Addicks, one of which came during Charlton’s 3-0 victory over Cocu’s Derby County back in October.

Gallagher also impressed in the reverse fixture on December 31 which eventually ended in a 2-1 victory for the Rams. The highly-rated starlet has also made his mark for England’s U21 side this season and Cocu seems to be wary of his threat ahead of the weekend clash.

Gallagher is in line to make his fourth consecutive league start for the Swans on Saturday, having followed in the footsteps of fellow Chelsea graduate Marc Guehi to the Liberty Stadium in January.
