David Moyes warns Chelsea that getting Declan Rice is going to be a big fight

Graham Potter wants someone like Declan Rice in midfield.

West Ham manager David Moyes is warning the Blues for Declan Rice. While talking to The Times (h/t Evening Standard), David Moyes has warned Chelsea that the club put up a big fight to keep hold of their best midfielder.

The Englishman has been linked with Chelsea and in last few days, the Blues are making progress to get the midfielder in 2023.

The West Ham star was an academy player for Chelsea before he moved to Hammers at a very young age. Rice has become the best midfielder at the London Stadium and one of the best in the Premier League.

While admitting that keeping hold of Declan Rice will be tough, Moyes said:

“He wants to win and play for a really good side which is going to give him the opportunity to do so. We hope that we can reach the Champions League. It is looking difficult at this time.“But we’re not just going to roll over and let Dec walk out of the building, that is for sure. It is going to be a big fight. I like it because he wants to challenge himself and he wants to play in the big games and be a top player. I don’t think you’re ever going to hold anybody back from having those ambitions.”

Rice will see his contract expiring at West Ham in the summer of 2024. The Englishman rejected the chance to sign an extension with his current club before the start of this season. West Ham offered him a chance to become the highest-paid West Ham player but Rice wants to explore big clubs.

Graham Potter wants someone like Rice in midfield. N’Golo Kante got injured very early on in this season. Now, the Frenchman is out of contract in the summer and is linked to Barcelona.
