Alan Nixon has disclosed that Crystal Palace is reportedly considering a summer transfer for Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos after the Brazilian had a triumphant season in France.
The Eagles’ historic FA Cup triumph over Manchester City, which was their first-ever trophy, qualified them for their Europa League debut the following season. There will likely be a busy summer for the South London club as a result of manager Oliver Glasner’s determination to make sure his team has the depth needed to compete on several fronts.
Nixon claims via his Patreon that Crystal Palace is keen to sign Santos this summer for £20 million, with Chelsea ready to make a move for the 21-year-old. Santos has not made a senior appearance for the Blues since moving from Vasco da Gama to Stamford Bridge in 2023.
Instead, he has played in Ligue 1 on loan, first with Nottingham Forest and subsequently Strasbourg. He found his footing in France, scoring 11 goals and dishing out four assists in 34 appearances across all competitions, although his time with the Tricky Trees was mainly forgotten.
Stamford Bridge reunion on the cards
According to a TeamTalk story, Chelsea is stepping up their efforts to re-sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace in a possible player-plus-cash deal worth £50 million. The 24-year-old, who joined Palace permanently in 2021 after graduating from Chelsea’s academy, has established himself as one of the Premier League’s most reliable center backs and a mainstay in Gareth Southgate’s England team.
According to Nixon, it is believed that Crystal Palace would prefer to arrange a cash deal for Santos’ signature, but an exchange transfer with Marc Guehi going the other way has also not been ruled out.
In the meantime, Palace will have a difficult time holding onto their best players come summer. Guehi, Adam Wharton, and Eberechi Eze, the FA Cup final winner, have all been connected to departures; nonetheless, the Eagles should be able to demand high prices, if not retain their whole asset base, given the possibility of competing in the Europa League the following season.
