Chelsea considering U-turn in their decision to sell Conor Gallagher

Conor Gallagher focused on Euro 2024 amid Tottenham transfer rumors

In the heart of Germany, where Euro 2024 has captured the continent’s attention, Conor Gallagher remains unfazed by swirling transfer rumors.

Despite speculation linking him with a potential move to Tottenham Hotspur or Aston Villa, Gallagher’s focus is firmly on England’s campaign.

With only a year left on his Chelsea contract, the midfielder’s future at Stamford Bridge is uncertain. However, Gallagher insists that these distractions won’t impact his performance at the tournament.

“I’m a Chelsea player right now and I am just focused on England and the tournament,” he asserted.

“It is not difficult, I’m in a very privileged position to be at a tournament like this and I couldn’t be happier with my situation.”

Gallagher’s journey to this point is a testament to his resilience. Eligible to play for Scotland through his late grandfather, he once tried out for Scotland’s junior team but didn’t make the cut.

Reflecting on those days, he humorously recalled, “When I was 15 or 16, I wasn’t good enough to play for the England youth team so I went to train with one of the Scotland teams to see what I was like… and I wasn’t good enough for them either! So I managed to work my way back into the England youth set-up and was lucky enough to stay in it.”

Under Gareth Southgate’s guidance, Gallagher has emerged as a key player, often wearing the captain’s armband for Chelsea.

He credits Mauricio Pochettino for his development, saying, “I think I have come a long way this season and I give a lot of credit to Pochettino and what he has done for me.”

While Gallagher prepares for England’s crucial match against Serbia, his club future remains a topic of interest. Yet, for now, his mind is solely on helping the Three Lions achieve glory at Euro 2024.
