The Sun claim Chelsea’s standout forward Cole Palmer is feeling unsettled in London and could consider a stunning return to Manchester this summer.
Chelsea Star Cole Palmer Linked with Shock Manchester Return
The England international, who joined the Blues from Manchester City for £40 million in 2023, is reportedly homesick after being born and raised in Manchester.
Despite a phenomenal first season at Stamford Bridge where he directly contributed to 42 goals, Palmer has experienced a slight dip and frustrating injuries.
This term, he has started less than half of Chelsea’s Premier League matches. Sources indicate he is “not particularly enjoying life down south,” sparking speculation about his future.
Intriguingly, a path back to his former club Manchester City could emerge.
Reports suggest Palmer would consider a move if Pep Guardiola departs and his current Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca, takes the helm at the Etihad.
Maresca, who recently left Chelsea, is a strong contender to replace Guardiola.
In a further twist, Palmer grew up supporting Manchester United, and the club has also received tentative links.
Former United coach Rene Meulensteen expressed surprise that the Red Devils did not sign him earlier, stating Palmer’s style would suit the team as a “difference maker.”
Palmer missed Chelsea’s midweek Champions League match with a minor thigh issue but is expected to return for their weekend clash against Crystal Palace.
As the summer approaches, all eyes will be on whether Chelsea’s Player of the Year seeks a dramatic return to the north.
