Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku appears to be heading towards the exit door just months after joining the Blues, with Bayern Munich reportedly closing in on the 27-year-old attacker.

The German giants are said to have reached a verbal agreement with Nkunku, though negotiations over a final fee are ongoing.

Chelsea are standing firm on a £60 million valuation, a figure that would mark a tidy profit on the £52 million paid to RB Leipzig last summer.

Nkunku’s struggles for regular Premier League minutes under Enzo Maresca have fueled speculation over his future. Despite his undeniable talent, the Frenchman has only managed 390 league minutes this season, with Maresca often rotating his attacking options.

Yet, Nkunku has still managed to impress in cup competitions, notching 11 of his 13 goals this term outside the league.

Maresca recently commented on the challenge of balancing Chelsea’s star-studded attack. “It’s difficult to play games with so many attacking players.

If Joao plays, it means Cole or Christo may not. Sometimes we can play them together, but not every game,” he explained, hinting at the tactical puzzle that has left Nkunku on the fringes.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have made moves in the opposite direction by recalling goalkeeper Eddie Beach from his loan at Crawley Town.

The 20-year-old Wales U21 international struggled for game time, making just two first-team appearances for the League One side.

Despite limited action, Beach impressed by saving a penalty in a Vertu Trophy match against Brighton U21s.

In a statement, Chelsea thanked Crawley Town for their role in Beach’s development, while the Sussex club wished him the best for his future endeavors.

As January progresses, all eyes will remain on Nkunku’s situation. A potential swap deal involving Bayern’s Mathys Tel has been floated, but regardless of the final arrangement, a high-profile move looks increasingly likely for Chelsea’s out-of-favor forward.
