The former Leicester City star Ben Chilwell has reportedly agreed to a two-year contract with Strasbourg, effectively completing a surprise move abroad.
Since Enzo Maresca moved to Stamford Bridge, Chilwell has been shut out of the Chelsea squad, playing in the League Cup just once during the first half of the previous campaign. After receiving consistent playing time in the capital through a loan move to Crystal Palace, Chilwell returned to west London at the end of the season, clearly trailing players like Marc Cucurella, Jorrel Hato, and Levi Colwill in the hierarchy.
Reputable journalist and transfer correspondent Fabrizio Romano reports that Chilwell has essentially agreed to a two-year contract with BlueCo team Strasbourg, giving the move his “Here We Go!” treatment.

Ben Chilwell to join RC Strasbourg on a permanent transfer
The sale of veteran defender Ben Chilwell to sister club Strasbourg has been announced by Chelsea. The 28-year-old Chilwell has not been desired at Chelsea since Enzo Maresca was hired at the beginning of the previous campaign.
During his loan stint with Crystal Palace in the second part of the previous season, the England international only made 11 appearances in all competitions and scored one goal. Chelsea has now announced that the left-back has ended his five-year contract by permanently joining BlueCo sister club Strasbourg.
Deadline Day approached with no movement made for either of Chelsea’s top earners, Chilwell and Sterling, who have both been frozen out at Stamford Bridge. There were hopes that both players may find permanent transfers.
At the end of the window, Fabrizio Romano stated that a deal had been reached, and Chilwell would be moving to Strasbourg for two years. But, as The Athletic pointed out, there was nothing planned for the England international, thus Sterling was unable to find such a solution.
