Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior has highlighted a persistent issue frustrating him despite his team’s strong run of form.
Rosenior Vents Chelsea Clean Sheet Frustration
The Blues secured a comfortable 3-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, with Cole Palmer scoring a hat-trick to cement fifth place in the Premier League.
The win marks Rosenior’s fourth consecutive league victory since taking charge, with Chelsea now claiming seven wins from his nine games in all competitions.
However, the concession of a second-half goal to Wolves’ Tolu Arokodare prevented a clean sheet, continuing a defensive trend that irks the new manager.
Rosenior admitted his frustration lies specifically with his team’s inability to consistently shut opponents out. Chelsea have managed only two clean sheets during his tenure.
“Very frustrating. You always want to keep a clean sheet,” Rosenior stated.
He pointed to lapses in concentration in recent matches against Crystal Palace, West Ham, and Napoli as examples.
“I want us to have a perfect 90 minutes, that’s my job. I don’t want us to give away cheap goals.”
The manager believes that with more time on the training ground, his squad will improve its game management and become tougher to break down.
His immediate focus remains on eliminating costly errors, particularly from set-pieces.
The match again showcased the brilliance of Cole Palmer, whom Rosenior described as “unstoppable” at his best.
The manager expressed his delight in working with the England international, who was substituted after an influential hour of play, potentially to keep him fresh for Chelsea’s next fixture.
While results remain positive, Rosenior’s comments make clear that shoring up Chelsea’s defence is a primary objective as he builds his project at Stamford Bridge.
