Chelsea teenager Callum Hudson-Odoi is on the verge of signing a new contract with the club following talks with Frank Lampard.

The winger is wanted by Bayern Munich who made several bids to sign him since January. However, the Blues are not willing to let go of Hudson-Odoi and want to tie him to a new contract to end Bayern’s interest.

Goal reports that Hudson-Odoi will sign a new five-year contract with Chelsea that would see him earning £100000 a week following discussions with Frank Lampard. Lampard was appointed as Chelsea’s new manager just days back and he is eager to give Chelsea’s youngsters ample game time.

Hudson-Odoi who has spent his entire career so far with Chelsea, made 29 appearances for Chelsea last season, scoring 6 goals and providing 7 assists. He could have made more appearances during the season but suffered an Achilles Tendon injury during a Premier League game against Burnley at Stamford Bridge that cut his season short.

Hudson-Odoi’s recovery is going well and he should be ready to play for Chelsea by September.

With Eden Hazard out and Chelsea facing a transfer ban, Hudson-Odoi will certainly be one of the players Chelsea will rely upon. Hudson-Odoi’s performances for Chelsea during the 2018/19 season is enough to suggest that he is one of the best footballing talents in England. Hence, committing himself to Chelsea in the longer run will be beneficial to the club.

Hudson-Odoi is not the only player who Chelsea want to sign a new contract. The club is in talks with  20-year old midfielder Mason Mount about a new contract too. Mount spent the 18/19 season on loan at Derby County where he played 44 matches under Frank Lampard, scoring 11 goals and providing 6 assists.
