Napoli agrees on a deal for Chelsea man with three years contract

Liam Rosenior has confirmed that Chelsea attacker Jamie Bynoe-Gittens faces another spell on the sidelines after suffering a fresh hamstring injury in training.

Chelsea’s Record Signing Bynoe-Gittens Suffers Another Setback

The 21-year-old winger missed Saturday’s 7-0 FA Cup thrashing of Port Vale, a victory that booked the Blues’ place in the semi-finals.

Rosenior revealed after the match that Gittens broke down during the final training session before the quarter-final clash.

“Unfortunately, Jamie, in training yesterday, picked up what looks like a hamstring injury again,” Rosenior told Chelsea Official Website.

“We have to scan him and make sure. It’s a real shame for him.”

The setback marks the third time the former Borussia Dortmund youngster has suffered a hamstring problem this season.

Gittens previously missed two months with a similar issue and was only just returning to full fitness when the latest blow occurred.

Asked how long Gittens might be out, Rosenior added: “I think it’s the third time it’s happened. We need to help him and we need to make sure he’s okay. I can’t give you a time frame on that at the moment.”

Chelsea paid an initial £48.5m – rising to £52m with add-ons – to sign Gittens from Dortmund last summer. However, his debut campaign at Stamford Bridge has been severely disrupted.

The Englishman has managed just one goal and five assists in 27 appearances, starting only five Premier League matches.

Gittens has not featured for Chelsea since January 31, when he hurt his hamstring in a 3-2 win over West Ham. That absence has now stretched to 13 games across all competitions.

If scans reveal a Grade 2 tear – similar to his previous two-month layoff – the winger could miss the remainder of the season.

A Grade 3 complete tear would definitely end his campaign. Only a best-case Grade 1 strain would limit the absence to a few weeks, though he would still miss upcoming fixtures against Manchester United and Manchester City.

Chelsea also remain without Reece James, Filip Jorgensen, Trevoh Chalobah and Levi Colwill, while Enzo Fernandez serves an internal two-match ban.
