Enzo Maresca is looking for a dynamic winger who can contribute regularly in front of goal, and Chelsea is aiming to make a summer move for AC Milan winger Rafael Leao. Having played for the Rossoneri for six seasons, the 25-year-old has emerged as one of the most intriguing wide players in the world in recent years, and there have been many rumors that he is looking for a new challenge.

The Blues were among the several clubs put off by Leao’s £145 million release clause, even if La Gazzetta dello Sport claims they could sign their player for £66 million. Given that Joao Felix and AC Milan have so far had a fruitful collaboration, it is possible that the former Atletico Madrid star may be included in a possible trade with his countryman.

Even though Chelsea had been keeping an eye on Rafael Leao for a number of months and previous seasons, there were always questions about the validity of his release clause. However, AC Milan’s decision to cut his price by more than half benefits the team greatly, as they could only need to pay half the asking amount in cash if Joao Felix ends up leaving.

Chelsea could make move’ for £145 million star as Felix Replacement

The attacking midfielder was given the opportunity to try something new because he didn’t make an impression on Maresca’s plans, even though he only moved from Atletico Madrid in August. However, even though a £5 million loan fee was paid, the temporary move to Italy does not entail a purchase obligation.

Chelsea is interested in Leao, whose teammate Tammy Abraham has called “unstoppable.” According to GMS sources, Chelsea is considering trying to reach an agreement if AC Milan goes back to the negotiating table to try to keep Felix’s services for the 2025–2026 season.

Since the Portugal international has a release clause in his contract worth around £145 million and has just under three and a half years left on it, the Rossoneri might not be willing to accept an offer that is less than what they are asking for.

Chelsea could take advantage of Felix’s brief stint at the San Siro, but if they decide to step up their game, they risk facing fierce competition for Leao’s signature. La Liga title chasers Barcelona have also been keeping an eye on the winger’s status and are eager to jump in if they have the money, according to GMS sources.
