Chelsea Will Need To Pay £15m Extra If They Want To Sign Kai Havertz

Chelsea have been told to improve their bid for Kai Havertz if they want to sign him this very summer.

A report from the Express claim that Frank Lampard’s side are willing to spend £75m on the German international.

For weeks, there has been speculation regarding Havertz’s future with Bayer Leverkusen. At least three sizeable Premier League sides want him in Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea. Given the financial climate after the coronavirus pandemic, clubs will be cautious to dump record sums on one player.

Chelsea have already shown their financial pedigree by securing deals for Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner, even though an announcement is pending for the latter. Frank Lampard has been promised summer reinforcements after going through his debut campaign in charge without any new additions.

Havertz would definitely be an upgrade to several players in the Chelsea midfield. But Leverkusen are holding out for £90m as opposed to Chelsea’s willingness to pay just £75m. The Bundesliga outfit can always hedge their bets and keep Havertz for longer but interest in the midfielder is at it’s peak right now. If Chelsea want to get their hands on the 21-year-old, they will have to outbid their direct rivals.
