Chelsea chiefs held talks about a move for Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel at the weekend.
Chelsea have started their preparation for their key target, Bayern Munich attacker after sealing a deal for Barcelona’s Marc Guiu. The West London club signed the Spaniard to their ranks for a modest £5m at the start of the window.
They triggered a cheap release clause in Guiu’s contract with Barcelona. First signing of the summer is done and Chelsea now need second striker option who can solve their attacking issues.
Nicolas Jackson is their main striker now and he needs support from another end. The Blues are also looking to get the signature of Alexander Isak from Newcastle United.
Journalist Si Phillips reports that Chelsea chiefs held talks about a move for Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel at the weekend. The 19-year-old joined the Bundesliga giants from Rennes in the summer of 2022 for £16.9m.
He has scored 16 goals in 41 games last season, scoring 10 of his own and providing six assists. He was restricted to just six Bundesliga starts in the 2023-24 season and played just 139 minutes in the Champions League.
His contract will expire in the summer of 2029. He feels his long-term future at Allianz Arena uncertain. Tel could expect a strong wage and the security of a long-term contract.
