Former Liverpool midfielder Didi Hamann has urged Chelsea to make a shock move for departing Anfield star Andy Robertson, claiming the Blues are “crying out” for experienced players like the Scot.

“Former Liverpool Star Pushes Chelsea to Make Move for Robertson”

Robertson, 32, will leave Liverpool when his contract expires at the end of the season after nine trophy-laden years on Merseyside.

The Scotland international has won two Premier League titles, the Champions League and three domestic cups during his time with the Reds.

Chelsea sit ninth in the Premier League following six consecutive league defeats. The club’s chaotic recruitment strategy, which has focused heavily on signing young prospects since the 2022 takeover, has come under heavy criticism.

The Blues recently sacked manager Liam Rosenior after just 106 days in charge, with interim boss Calum McFarlane now leading the team.

Hamann believes Chelsea’s squad lacks the leadership needed to handle difficult moments.

“I think Chelsea need experience,” Hamann told BetKing.

“When things go badly, as they have now, you need experienced players who can calm young players down.

I don’t think they’ve got that. When they go behind, they fall apart.”

The German pointed to Chelsea’s 3-0 loss against Brighton as a clear example of their fragility.

“A player like Andy Robertson – they should take him in a heartbeat,” Hamann added.

“He’s exactly the type of player Chelsea needs. With one or two more experienced players, they give themselves a chance.

I don’t think the way this team is put together gives them any chance.

I’d take Robertson at Chelsea in a heartbeat if he was interested.”

Chelsea conclude their league campaign against Liverpool, Tottenham and Sunderland.

They still have a chance to salvage their season, however, with an FA Cup final against Manchester City scheduled for May 16.

McFarlane’s side reached the final after beating Leeds United in the semi-finals.
