Manchester United have reportedly set a £60 million price tag for Alejandro Garnacho, with Chelsea showing strong interest in signing the Argentine winger this summer.
Manchester United Set £60m Asking Price for Chelsea Target Alejandro Garnacho
Garnacho’s future at Old Trafford has been thrown into doubt following a tense fallout with manager Ruben Amorim during the Europa League final.
The 20-year-old was benched for the clash against Tottenham, coming on only in the 71st minute as United fell to a 1-0 defeat in Bilbao.
Speaking after the match, Garnacho expressed his frustration over the decision to start him on the bench.
“Up until the final I played every round helping the team, and today I play 20 minutes—I don’t know,” he told Argentine media, hinting that the snub could impact his future at the club.
Tensions were further inflamed when Garnacho’s brother, Roberto, took to Instagram to criticize Amorim.
“Working as no one else, helping every round, coming from two goals in the last two finals, just to be on the pitch for 19 mins and get thrown under the bus,” he wrote.
Despite Garnacho’s evident potential and a contract that runs until 2028, United are now open to selling the young talent.
According to The Telegraph, the club hopes to raise funds for summer reinforcements and is targeting a total of £90 million from the sales of Antony, Jadon Sancho, and Marcus Rashford in addition to Garnacho.
Chelsea, who previously explored a deal in the January window, are expected to renew their interest.
Napoli had also been in talks but were deterred by United’s valuation and Garnacho’s wage demands, particularly after selling Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to PSG.
With transfer season heating up and Garnacho’s relationship with the United hierarchy strained, a move away from Old Trafford is looking increasingly likely.
Whether Chelsea will meet United’s £60m asking price remains to be seen, but the Blues are known admirers of the fiery winger who continues to divide opinion—but never fails to spark headlines.
