Chelsea told they made a mistake with Conor Gallagher

Conor Gallagher should have gone out for another loan this season.

The Chelsea midfielder spent the last season on loan with Crystal Palace and scored eight goals in 34 Premier League appearances for the Eagles.

He was named club’s Player of the Year for the 2021-22 season under manager Patrick Vieira.

The Eagles made a move to sign him on loan again this season but the Blues decided to keep him.

Top clubs such as Aston Villa, West Ham, Everton and Newcastle United were also linked with the 22-year-old midfielder.

‘I don’t think in terms of leaving the club, but another season on loan for Gallagher would have been great for him,’ Glen Johnson told SafeBettingSites.

‘Personally I would have liked him to carry on his development, he was clearly enjoying himself.

‘I’d rather have Chelsea have let him go back out on loan and then re-evaluate the situation at the end of the season.’
