According to CaughtOffSide, Ben Chilwell may depart Chelsea during the January transfer window since Manchester United, a rival team in the Premier League, is reportedly interested in him. A possible transfer to Old Trafford “could be one to watch as the Red Devils retain an interest in the England international as they’re keen to strengthen at left-back,” the report stated, adding that Chilwell is anticipated to part ways with the Blues in the middle of the season.
In the summer of 2024, Chelsea hopes to unload Chilwell. The 27-year-old left-back caught the attention of Manchester United at the time, but a deal never happened. The full-back has returned to training with the first team after being sent to work with the reserves by Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca.
Manchester United eye January move for Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell
Chilwell was constantly connected to United during the summer, but in August, it was announced that the Reds were “stepping up” their efforts to recruit him, and as a result, the decision was taken not to sign him. When Jadon Sancho moved on loan to Chelsea, there were a lot of rumours going around that a player would eventually move the other way. However, it turned out that this was a one-way deal.
Having not participated in a single Premier League game this season, Chelsea is glad to see the left back go. In order to play football for the first team once more in January, the 27-year-old will undoubtedly be wanting to go, and United is once again being mentioned.
