Chelsea vs Aston Villa Prediction, Betting Tips, Odds & Preview

According to reports, Chelsea will start looking into a bottle that was thrown at the Aston Villa bench during their match. Villa overcame a deficit at Stamford Bridge to win 2-1 due to two goals from Ollie Watkins.

They are now only one point behind second-place Manchester City and three points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal. When the full-time whistle blew, a plastic bottle was thrown in the direction of the visiting team’s bench, according to The Telegraph.

As a result, both villa employees and replacements were drenched in water, and one of the former indicated where the bottle originated. Although there has been no official confirmation of the bottle’s origin, the article states that it appeared to have been thrown from the Chelsea side of the dugout.

Authorities are prepared to assist in determining who threw the bottle and from where, and Chelsea is prepared to work with Villa. To aid with the inquiry, CCTV video is probably going to be examined.

Villa launch complaint after water bottle thrown at Chelsea

Once the whistle had blown for half-time, Villa fans would have had little to celebrate in terms of their side’s performance. They offered very little going forward and were made to pay for their lacklustre showing eight minutes before the break.

A Reece James corner appeared to fly all the way into the goal, but replays showed that it took a slight touch off Joao Pedro. Chelsea had a huge call for a penalty at the beginning of the second half when the ball hit the arm of Ian Maatsen.

However, the Premier League later revealed that his arm was deemed to be in a ‘justifiable position’. Villa equalised just after the hour mark through substitute Watkins, who netted the rebound from a Robert Sanchez save.

Villa have won 11 consecutive matches in all competitions, equalling their record that was set in September 1897 and March 1914. Eight of those victories have come in the Premier League, with Unai Emery’s side maintaining their status as title challengers.
