Chelsea target suffer serious injury in season opener

Chelsea target lasted just 20 minutes in the PSG’s first match of the 2024-25 season.

Chelsea have to look out for a new striker as their potential transfer target got injured. Goncalo Ramos sustained a serious ankle injury in PSG’s opening match of the Ligue 1 season.

The Portugal international netted 11 goals and provided two assits in Ligue 1 last season. He made 40 appearances for Les Parisiens. Ligue 1 giants signed Ramos from Benfica during the January transfer window.

His contract will expire in the summer of 2028. Chelsea were keen to get the signature of the talented striker. The Blues have been busy this summer and signed 10 players.

They were also planning to sign Napoli’s Victor Osimhen in swap deal for Lukaku but deal didn’t happen. They are also linked with Evan Ferguson of Brighton & Hove Albion.

23-year-old lasted just 20 minutes in the PSG’s first match of the 2024-25 season. He assisted in the opening goal for PSG but he went down to a poor tackle by Etienne Youte Kinkoue.

PSG manager Enrique responded on his injury, “I’m not a doctor but I think it looks pretty serious. I don’t know how many weeks he will be out injured but it’s serious.”

It’s a huge setback for Chelsea and PSG both. Chelsea will now find new options and PSG will also struggle in forward line as they already lost Mbappe this summer.
