A week from now, Chelsea will play both Nottingham Forest in the Premier League and Gent in the Conference League. They have just two injury concerns. After bouncing back from a thigh injury, Malo Gusto is back in the starting lineup, and Romeo Lavia, a midfielder, has recovered from a hamstring issue to come off the bench at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Following yet another hamstring injury sustained during the team’s preseason tour of the USA, club captain James has yet to make an appearance for Chelsea under new manager Enzo Maresca. It’s unclear when James will be able to make a comeback after his last competitive game for the Blues was in May. Prior to the Brighton match, Maresca declared, “Reece is the only one missing.” There is currently no significant update regarding him, and he remains absent.
Chelsea star continues recovery from injury hell
The defender has battled injuries over the past few seasons; the most recent setback came shortly before the Premier League season began. James’s comeback was further delayed last month when he experienced another setback. James, 24, came to Instagram on Tuesday to provide an update on his status. It is unknown when James, who has only appeared in three games in 2024, will be available again for Blues boss Enzo Maresca.
With the comment, “Long story short, I’m doing well,” the England international posted a series of photos to Instagram, one of which showed him in training. Hoping to see you in the near future.”
