The winger for Chelsea, Jadon Sancho, has updated supporters on social media about his absence from the team’s recent games. The 24-year-old was substituted at halftime during Chelsea’s 2-1 Premier League loss to Liverpool on matchday eight, and he hasn’t played since. Sancho was unwell and missed his team’s 2-1 victory over Newcastle. A stipulation in his loan agreement also prevented him from playing against his own club, Manchester United.
Maresca was uncertain whether Sancho would play in Chelsea’s match against Arsenal on Sunday (November 10) in the Europa Conference League, which they won 8-0, against FC Noah. “Jadon had a knock in a workout, but he is also getting better from his illness. He is out tomorrow, but we’ll see if he can make it to Sunday’s game; if not, it will be after his international break.
Jadon Sancho on the Chelsea sidelines
The left winger chose to end his turbulent tenure at Manchester United after spending the second part of the previous season on loan at his old team, Borussia Dortmund. In five Premier League games since joining the West London club on transfer deadline day, Sancho has found his form again, contributing three assists. Whether true or not, Sancho has a reputation. He used a photo of himself in the physio room on Instagram to dispel rumours that he was skiving at Chelsea.
Sancho will have a nice two weeks to get back to full health if he doesn’t play against Arsenal. He missed Lee Carsley’s most recent England team. Maresca’s team, now in fourth place with 18 points from their first 10 games, is in the running to qualify for the Champions League once more this season.
