Young Chelsea star Andreas Christensen has been shown considerable interest by La Liga giants Barcelona.
The Catalan club is keen to secure the services of the 22 year old centre back. The Danish international is a Chelsea youth team product, one of the few to have successfully broken into the first team.
He played out on loan for two years in Germany before being recalled by the club and was given his break into the first team by Antonio Conte. Conte’s 3-man defesive system saw Christensen fit in seamlessly and the Danish international became a regular starter for teh Blues, churning out some impressive performances.
However, the introduction of new manager Maurizio Sarri, who prefers his defenders to have the ability to play out the ball from the back, has seen Christensen’s first team chances freeze out.
The young centre back expressed his disappointment last month by saying, “It’s different from last season – I played a lot of games and this season it hasn’t been like that,” Christensen told Sky Sports. “It’s always difficult for a player but we’ll see what happens.”
It now seems that Barcelona are keen to snap up the young defender by offering him a chance to establish himself in Spain. What should Sarri do?
