Antonio Rüdiger has attempted to shut down any speculation over his immediate future by revealing he remains committed to the Chelsea cause.

Despite the fact that he is in the final six months of his contract, the Germany international believes that negotiations are ongoing and that he would love to remain in London.

“I’m fully committed as always,” Rudiger told Sky Sports. “Right down to the cause. Another day the talks are between my side and the club.”

“The coach, my team-mates, my family. That’s why for me, I am only focused about the important things.

There’s not too much doubt that Antonio Rudiger has been one of Chelsea’s most consistent performers this season.

He is a trusted general for Thomas Tuchel and it’s easy to see why. The German’s physicality and athleticism make him the perfect modern day defender.

However, that doesn’t mean he can set his own price when it comes to transfer and salary renegotiations.

According to MARCA, the player has told Chelsea that he wants a contract worth £45 million over the course of the term.

If the contract was for five years, the German would earn £187,500 every week. Far more than the £135,000 per week that Rudiger scoffed at.

The bottom line for the Blues is whether they feel the player is worth the money.

His performances would suggest he is, if that’s the going rate, but his attitude and greed casts him in a bad light. However the German intentions lie with Chelsea if the price is met.

It’s been claimed that Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, and Juventus have all been in talks with Rüdiger’s representatives as he’s free and able to sign a pre-contract with any club this month.
