Academy starlet Tino Anjorin has finally signed a long-term 5-year contract with Chelsea.
The contract runs until the year 2025. His debut match in the Premier League was against Everton, where Chelsea won 4-0.
Needless to say, 18-year old Tino Anjorin is beside himself with happiness. He feels this season has been an important one for Chelsea academy players, where for the first time in a long, they have got chances to showcase their talent. So far, Lampard has brought in 8 academy players to debut at Chelsea.
‘It’s a brilliant feeling,’ the young midfielder told the official Chelsea website after putting pen to paper on the new deal. ‘I’ve been at the club since I was six years old so to get to this stage and then be offered another five-year contract on top of that is amazing.
‘I had no hesitation but to take it straight away because to play for the club I always dreamed of playing for is really special for me.’
‘It’s been a really crucial season for young players here,’ Anjorin went on. ‘Frank, Jody Morris and Joe Edwards have taken us on board and really committed themselves to bringing young players through.
Anjorin has impressed as the leading goalscorer for Chelsea’s development team and became captain of the under-18 team, which went to the FA Youth Cup semifinals. He has been training along with the first team members and is looking forward to playing at Stamford bridge soon.
‘It’s been really important to have those familiar faces around,’ he said of the former Academy coaches who are now working alongside Lampard. ‘It’s easy to talk to people and be around the first team building more because you’re welcomed in.
‘Hopefully I can try to carry on being a part of that as long as I keep working hard and impressing the coaches.’
