Chelsea show interest in signing Leeds United winger

Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Leeds United winger Raphinha in the summer, following his explosive start to life in the Premier League.

The 25-year-old just arrived to Elland Road in 2020, but he has settled in like a duck to water, terrorising opposing defences. Most attackers lose form and confidence when they go to a quick and physical game like the Premier League, but the Brazilian appears to have qualities that are well suited to the demands of the English top flight.
The winger has been a star performer for Leeds this season, netting eight league goals.

Chelsea are not the only team interested in signing Raphinha, with London rivals West Ham also trying to make a deal with Leeds at the end of the season.
Despite Chelsea’s interest in signing the 25-year-old, a summer move seems more plausible, as the player is expected to stay at Leeds in January. With only one day until the winter transfer window closes, Raphinha’s move may be too late at this point.

Leeds are prepared to go all out to keep their star, willing to hand him a wage hike to do so, with a contract at Bielsa’s side until 2024 and the choice to extend the term. With West Ham also interested in moving Raphinha away from Elland Road in the summer, a bidding war for the player might erupt shortly.

Raphinha is promised a more exciting project at Chelsea, with the opportunity to win trophies and compete in the Champions League.
