For striker Samu Omorodion, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid have reached a £34.5 million (€40 million) agreement. If the agreement moves forward, Omorodion will sign a seven-year contract with the option to extend it for an additional year, which would extend until 2032. The specifics of the agreement are still being worked out.

Last week, The Athletic revealed that the Spanish team was in advanced negotiations with Chelsea to sign Gallagher, with a deal worth €42 million (£36 million) finalized between the two organizations.

Omorodion joined Atletico Madrid in 2023 after moving from Granada, and his contract there expires in 2028. However, he spent the previous season on loan at Alaves. Although he hasn’t yet played for Diego Simeone’s team, he scored eight goals in 35 games for the opposing La Liga team.

Chelsea Set to Book Medical Today for Samu Omorodion

Italian reporter Fabrizio Romano has reported that Chelsea is now scheduling a medical examination in advance of concluding a deal, as they are pushing to sign Atletico Madrid striker Samu Omorodion.

The Blues are hoping to add another center forward to their roster this summer, even though they brought Nicolas Jackson to Stamford Bridge last summer. The Senegalese striker’s season with Chelsea was uneven, and the team is getting close to signing Omorodion—who has already been called “outstanding”—to the squad.

While Omorodion is now gone with Spain at the Paris Olympics, it is unclear when he will reunite with his new teammates. Chelsea has made their way back to the United Kingdom following a disastrous preseason tour of the States. On Sunday, they play Inter at Stamford Bridge in their final friendly.
