Chelsea set to lose Rudiger: What should Frank do?

Chelsea could be set to lose Antonio Rudiger in the summer.

The latest reports coming from Germany have confirmed that Bundesliga clubs like Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are interested in Rudiger and want him in the Bundesliga next season.

While a club like Chelsea may be able to thwart the interest of Dortmund, Munich is a heavyweight club. They are German champions and one of the Champions League favorites every season.

Moreover, Rudiger is himself German and would love to go back home to play for the biggest club in his country, where it is a matter of pride and success to play for Bayern.

Chelsea is already stacked low in central defense when it comes to experience. Having sold David Luiz and Gary Cahill, Lampard had mostly young men in his squad.

The likes of Kurt Zouma and Andreas Christensen are not seasoned campaigners while Fikayo Tomori is still very young and is only finishing his first-ever Premier League campaign.

Holding on to Rudiger might be even more difficult if Chelsea do not qualify for the Champions League. The Blues are just hanging on to the fourth spot by a thread and they will know a large part of Rudiger’s decision will be based on this.

Making the Champions League hence could prove to be make or break for Frank in his very first season at the Bridge.
