Chelsea Readying Up Contract Talks For Andreas Christensen

Chelsea are planning to hand Andreas Christensen a new contract.

The Telegraph reports that Thomas Tuchel and the Blues hierarchy have been impressed by Christensen’s recent performances.

A rotational option under Frank Lampard, the 24-year-old has really turned it around under the new boss. Tuchel has found Christensen’s skills more compatible in a three-man backline next to Antonio Rudiger and Cezar Azpilicueta.

The result is Chelsea have not lost any games under Tuchel and are coming off an impressive 1-0 win over Liverpool. Christensen has been present only for one of the two goals conceded till now under Tuchel.

Chelsea are reportedly plotting contract negotiations with the Dane in the coming weeks. He is still fairly young and has some potential to fulfill. Even if his form peters out, Chelsea will have a strong base to trade his services for a neat financial reward in the future.

Christensen has fallen in out of the starting line up over the years. He showed promise early on since his loan spell to the Bundesliga. He was favoured by Maurizio Sarri but then dropped by Lampard. Now, Tuchel seems to have given him a new lease of life but it might not be enough.
