Chelsea are prepared to part ways with Trevoh Chalobah this summer, but only if they secure a new senior centre-back first.

Chelsea Set Chalobah Sale Condition as Aston Villa Circle

The 26-year-old has become a regular fixture in the Blues’ backline under Liam Rosenior, yet his long-term future at Stamford Bridge hangs in the balance.

Aston Villa have emerged as a serious suitor for the defender.

Reports from Football Insider indicate Unai Emery views Chalobah as a potential upgrade on Tyrone Mings and wants to bring him to the Midlands ahead of next season.

The situation marks a dramatic turnaround for the academy graduate. Last summer, Chalobah looked destined for an exit after struggling to find his footing following a productive loan spell at Crystal Palace.

However, he has fought his way back into contention over recent months, featuring 35 times this season despite constant changes to his centre-back partner due to injuries and rotation.

Despite his resurgence, Chelsea’s recruitment strategy could force him out. The club recently missed out on the signing of Jeremy Jacquet, who joined Liverpool instead, and they remain actively searching for defensive reinforcements.

According to sources close to the situation, the Blues intend to bring in at least one new centre-back during the summer transfer window.

“Things possibly could change if Chelsea were to bring in another centre-back, which they are understood to be looking to do in the summer window,” a transfer insider explained.

For Villa, the conditional nature of the deal presents an opportunity. They are monitoring developments closely and would likely move quickly if Chelsea green-light a sale.

Chalobah’s Premier League experience and recent form make him an attractive option for a side aiming to consolidate their position near the top of the table.

For now, the defender’s future remains tied to Chelsea’s summer business. If a new face arrives, his time at the club where he came through the ranks could finally come to an end.
