The Chelsea squad are reportedly preparing to offer Mykhailo Mudryk as part of a swap deal to secure the services of Inter Milan’s star striker, Lautaro Martinez.
Chelsea’s Big Gamble: Mudryk Included in Swap Deal for ‘World’s Best’ Striker
With Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca keen to revamp his attacking options, Mudryk could be one of the high-profile casualties at Stamford Bridge.
The Ukrainian winger has struggled to make an impact since his big-money move from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023, and patience appears to be wearing thin.
Mudryk was left on the bench during Chelsea’s recent 1-0 win over Bournemouth, with Maresca opting for Jadon Sancho and Christopher Nkunku, who combined for the decisive goal.
Despite Mudryk’s raw talent, it seems he’s fallen down the pecking order with Pedro Neto, Joao Felix, and Noni Madueke all getting opportunities ahead of him.
Reports from Doble Amarilla suggest Chelsea are willing to offer Mudryk as part of a blockbuster deal for Lautaro Martinez, who has long been admired by the Blues.
Chelsea may also include midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka and defender Benoit Badiashile in the proposal.
Martinez, a Ballon d’Or nominee, is considered one of the best strikers in the world, and securing him would be a major coup for Chelsea’s new-look attack.
With the club looking to climb back to the top of the Premier League, a move for Martinez could give Chelsea the firepower they need.
However, the departure of Mudryk, who arrived with so much promise, signals that Chelsea are not afraid to make bold moves to stay competitive.
