Antonio Conte has been heavily linked with summer exit
Antonio Conte took over the charge of Chelsea in the summer of 2016 and won the Premier League title on his debut season. But their title defense haven’t gone according to their plan as they have finished fifth and will miss the Champions League next season.
However the Premier League giants ended the season on a positive note by winning the FA Cup against Manchester United last week. Despite that Conte is still heavily linked with a move away from the club.
The Italian has been linked with a summer exit for quite some now after a decline in club’s performances this season. The coach’s future has been under scrutiny since before the season began, as he negotiated a pay-rise without extending his contract and complaints over the club’s transfer policy.
Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri has been linked with move to Stamford Bridge should Conte leave this summer. He has done a great job since he took over the charge of the club and lost the Serie A title to Juventus by very small margins this season.
The speculations further intensified when Ciucciarelli appointed Carlo Ancelotti as their new manager, leaving the 59 year to move to England. He is still contracted with the club and they want the Blue’s to pay his release clause of £7 million release clause.
Eden Hazard is pushing for Chelsea to appoint former Serie A giants coach Sarri to replace current manager Conte, according to Gazzetta dello Sport. He has spoken to Napoli attacker Dries Mertens about the manager and has been pleased with what he has heard from his Belgium international team-mate.
According to latest reports, FA Cup champions are close to agreeing a two-year contract with the Italian, worth £5 million per season.
