Chelsea are preparing to renew several academy products and the young midfielder is pretty high on the list.
17-year-old Tino Anjorin’ contract is expiring in 2021. But since the arrival of Frank Lampard academy players have been provided with rejuvenated hope.
The talented midfielder has impressed with Chelsea U19s and now he is doing the same with Chelsea U23s. He has 7 goals and 3 assists in 7 matches (all competitions) across various Youth levels this season.
Anjorin’s good form is expected to be recognized and he could soon be awarded first-team chances. He is a physically-imposing attacking midfielder and thus he is compared with another Chelsea player, Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
Anjorin joins the list of academy players who are going to get new contracts and eventually start getting first-team chances. Marc Guehi and Ian Maatsen are among the few others. And Billy Gilmour has already made his debut against Sheffield United in Premier League.
Anjorin will be the sixth player to sign a new deal this season after Gilmour, Loftus-Cheek, Mason Mount, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Guehi, and Jamie Cumming.
Lampard has made it clear he will trust academy players, “They have to show they deserve to be in front of other players. At the moment, it’s nice because they are showing that. They are all coming together.”
