Chelsea are targeting a move for RB Leipzig’s rising star Yan Diomande, as the club continues its commitment to investing in elite young talent.
Blues Eye £87m Move for RB Leipzig Starlet Yan Diomande
According to Caught Offside, the Blues have identified the Ivorian winger as a key offensive target for the future.
This pursuit aligns with the vision of owner Todd Boehly, who has shifted the club’s transfer policy away from expensive, established superstars.
The new strategy prioritises acquiring high-potential youngsters, accepting a development period while building a squad for long-term success.
Interest in Diomande is not new, with Chelsea reportedly monitoring his progress before his transfer to Leipzig last summer.
The 19-year-old has since enhanced his reputation with a strong start in Germany, contributing seven goals and three assists in 16 appearances across all competitions.
His impressive form also earned him a starting role for Ivory Coast at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Chelsea’s search for a right-footed winger led them to consider alternatives after missing out on Ghana’s Antoine Semenyo, who joined Manchester City.
Diomande now sits on a shortlist that also includes Kenan Yildiz and Jeremy Monga.
However, a deal will be challenging. Diomande signed a long-term contract with Leipzig just months ago, tying him to the Bundesliga club until 2030.
To deter interest, Leipzig have reportedly placed a staggering £87 million price tag on the forward.
While Diomande’s talent represents an exciting prospect, Chelsea may weigh the need for another left-sided attacker carefully.
The club invested in young wingers Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens last summer, meaning any move for Diomande could hinge on departures from Stamford Bridge.
For now, the Ivorian remains a highly admired, but expensive, target for the Blues’ long-term project.
