Chelsea Plot Declan Rice Transfer As Replacement For N'Golo Kante

Chelsea are reportedly considering a move for Declan Rice if they lose N’Golo Kante to Real Madrid.

The Galacticos were pushing to sign Paul Pogba from Manchester United all season long but lately, have decided to change course.

Pogba’s future at Old Trafford is still uncertain but there is no guarantee that he will leave. Kante, on the other hand, is 29 now and has just undergone a season full of injuries. The latter is finding it harder and harder to keep himself consistently on the pitch but still remains an important part of Frank Lampard’s plans.

If a player of Kante’s stature leaves, Chelsea will have to answer back with the rightful replacement. Rice is the perfect alternative at the age of 21. He has blossomed in the West Ham United academy after being released from Chelsea, 7 years back. He remains close friends with Blues midfielder, Mason Mount and talked about reuniting with him at club level. Rice told Copa 90, “I’d love to play with him at club level again.”

The Hammers are aware of Chelsea’s interests and will possibly demand a premium fee of around £70 million. Manchester United and Arsenal are also in the running for Rice’s signature but Chelsea are in the better position to prize him away.
