Chelsea planning Rice bid by funding Jorginho sale

The future of Jorginho looks extremely shaky at the Bridge right now.

The Blues midfielder joined the club back in 2018 and came along with Italian manager Maurizio Sarri. Jorginho’s stay at the club has been a mixed one. While he has won silverware and helped Chelsea get Champions League football, his midfield presence has come under heavy criticism.

The player was brought in to take over the position of defensie midfield and help the defenders move the ball out of the bacK. However, what has been tough for the Italian has been his ability to defend, a necessary task while playing CDM.

Jorginho had a renaissance of sorts under Frank Lampard but with the development of Gilmour, return of Kante to CDM – Jorginho looks set to sit out once again.

Now the Blues are planning to sell him as a substantial amount of that fund can be used to buy Declan Rice, the West Ham United star – and former Chelsea youth product.

Rice has been one of the more promising stars for England and looks set to become a big player. Chelsea will have to pay up a lot for him and they are looking to seek most of his money by selling Jorginho.
