According to the Express, as cited by the Metro, Chelsea are looking to make a move to land their former defensive ace Nathan Ake, who is currently playing for Bournemouth. The player left the club in the last season and has provided a lot of stability to the Cherries defensive lineup since his arrival at the Vitality Stadium.
The player had played for the South Coast club on loan before he made his move permanent from the west London club. He had fallen down the pecking order during his stay at the club and had left the club for first team opportunities. He was undoubtedly one of the best young defenders in the Chelsea ranks during the stay at the club and as per current reports, the Blues are looking to make a bid of £40million for their former defensive ace.
Chelsea might have to let their veteran centre back David Luiz as he is already 31. His departure would leave a major hole in the Chelsea backline and Ake could be a viable replacement for him. However, the player himself has refrained from giving much importance to the rumours and said, “I’ve seen it pass by but of course it’s rumours.”
He added, “At the moment I play at Bournemouth and that is going well, so I focus on that. This does not say much about my status yet. They are rumours on the internet and as long as I do not hear anything myself, I will not go into that.”
