Chelsea have reportedly opted not to pursue Paris Saint‑Germain forward Randal Kolo Muani this summer, despite the 26‑year‑old being available for around €50 million (£43.7m), according to ESPN and confirmed by multiple media outlet.
Chelsea Snub Kolo Muani as They Prioritise Delap and Joao Pedro Signings
The French international spent the latter half of the 2024–25 season on loan at Juventus, scoring 10 goals and providing three assists in 22 appearances, helping the Old Lady’s attack gain momentum.
Juventus were keen to sign him permanently, but financial constraints frustrated their efforts.
PSG have now moved on and seem willing to facilitate a transfer possibly even as a loan with an obligation to buy but Kolo Muani has reportedly fallen out of their plans.
Given that backdrop, the opportunity was offered to both Chelsea and Arsenal but rejected; Chelsea turned their attention to Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, while Arsenal pressed on with their pursuit of Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP.
With interest shifting elsewhere, Manchester United and Newcastle United have emerged as the prime suitors.
United may explore a loan deal with an obligation to purchase, while Newcastle are believed to be monitoring the situation closely. PSG reportedly want an obligation to make any move permanent, not simply a temporary loan.
Kolo Muani’s earlier exploits in Bundesliga and Ligue 1 painted him as a potential elite forward 26 goals and 17 assists during his time at Eintracht Frankfurt but his form at PSG has been underwhelming, with just 11 goals and 7 assists in 54 appearances. That dip in production has dented his market value and appeal to top clubs.
For Arsenal and Chelsea, the decision seems tactical both clubs prioritised other forward options.
For United and Newcastle, this may be a savvy opportunity a talented, yet undersold player potentially available at a relative bargain as PSG seek to offload.
