Chelsea is reportedly willing to part ways with World Cup-winning midfielder Enzo Fernandez next summer if Real Madrid meets their specific transfer conditions.
Blues Open to Fernandez Exit as Real Madrid Circle for Summer Move
The potential deal, which could see French star Eduardo Camavinga moving to Stamford Bridge alongside a significant cash fee, comes amid Fernandez’s mixed performances this season, including a challenging outing in Chelsea’s 3-1 Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich.
According to reports from Defensa Central, the West London club would demand Camavinga and an additional €50 million in exchange for Fernandez, whose current contract runs until 2032.
The Argentine midfielder, who joined Chelsea for £106.8 million in 2023, has been a key figure for the club, making 120 appearances and contributing 42 goal involvements.
Despite his leadership role—captaining the team in their last three Premier League games—Fernandez has faced criticism for inconsistencies, particularly in defensive phases and athletic mobility.
His recent performance against Bayern Munich, where he recorded only five passes in the first half, highlighted these limitations.
Real Madrid, long-term admirers of Fernandez, view him as a potential successor to midfield legends Luka Modrić and Toni Kroos.
However, a deal hinges on whether Los Blancos are willing to include Camavinga, a player highly valued by manager Xabi Alonso.
For Chelsea, this move could address squad balance and financial needs, especially with Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) considerations.
As the Blues prepare to host Benfica in their next Champions League fixture, all eyes will be on Fernandez’s response to the swirling transfer speculation.
