Eddie Howe hit out at a ‘poor tackle’ from Moises Caicedo in EFL Cup quarterfinal

Chelsea could be set for a major midfield shake-up this summer, with reports suggesting the club is ready to accept offers in the region of £100 million for Moises Caicedo.

Saudi Clubs eye Caicedo as Chelsea signal openness to £100m sale

Interest is mounting from Saudi Pro League clubs, and while the Ecuadorian remains a part of Enzo Maresca’s plans, Chelsea are not ruling out a potential sale.

According to former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown, who shared insights with Football Insider, the Blues will “take very seriously” any offer that matches the £100+ million mark.

Caicedo joined Chelsea from Brighton in 2023 for a British-record fee of £115 million, but has struggled to consistently justify the hefty price tag.

“For whatever reason, he hasn’t lived up to the price tag,” said Brown.

“I think he’s a very good player, and I understood why Chelsea were keen. But now the financial side of things is influencing their transfer strategy.”

Chelsea, under the new stewardship of Maresca, are expected to back the manager in the summer window despite pressure surrounding his early tenure.

The club is believed to be eyeing squad reinforcements, and offloading Caicedo could free up valuable funds to invest in other areas.

While Caicedo is not the first name on Chelsea’s sell list, the possibility of recouping most of the money spent on him has opened the door to serious negotiations.

The club is aware of the significant financial interest coming from Saudi clubs, and such a deal could help the Blues rebalance their books and reshape the squad more efficiently.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are also keeping tabs on potential big-name arrivals, including Manchester City veteran Kevin De Bruyne.

Although the Belgian is reportedly leaning toward a move to Saudi Arabia or MLS, the Blues are monitoring his situation closely.

For now, the spotlight remains on Caicedo’s future—and whether a record-breaking arrival could become a record-breaking exit in just one year. Chelsea plan to accept £100m offer
