Chelsea, who missed out on Enzo Fernandez, is reportedly interested in signing Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo
The Blues spent early in the January transfer window trying to sign a midfield reinforcement for the team, but Benfica and the player could not come to terms on a price.
Chelsea may once again join the midfielder market during the summer season given N’Golo Kante’s long-term injury and Denis Zakaria’s concerns. Romeo Lavia of Southampton has been mentioned in recent weeks as a long-term target for Chelsea, and a deal for Fernandez cannot be completely ruled out. However, it looks that Chelsea is now prepared to make a significant investment in Caicedo, who has been impressive for Brighton this year.
Chelsea is very interested in Moises Caicedo, claims Fabrizio Romano. The head coach Potter is thought to be a major supporter of the Ecuadorian player and is familiar with him from their time together at Brighton. Caicedo is one of the players on Chelsea’s list after they were unable to get Enzo Fernandez, and the club is “very interested” in him. Ben Jacobs has added to Romano’s revelation by disclosing the midfielder’s value to Brighton. He thinks Chelsea is interested in Caicedo and willing to pay more than £65 million to acquire him.
However, Brighton hopes to hang onto their asset and will only consider a sale in January if a price exceeds £75 million. Although some signings have already been made, it is unknown whether Chelsea would try to sign Caicedo during the transfer season.
There is no sign of things slowing down now that Andrey Santos, Benoit Badashile, Joao Felix, David Datro Fofana, and Mykhailo Mudryk have all arrived. Due to the increasing injury issues, Potter may decide to bring in additional reinforcements as he seeks to rebuild his team.
