Frank Lampard needs to make Kai Havertz the main man in the team.

Ex-Blues goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer believes Chelsea needs to rebuild the entire team around summer signing Kai Havertz.

The German playmaker was the main man at Bayer Leverkusen where he scored 18 goals and made nine assists in 45 games last season.

The 21-year arrived at Stamford Bridge in a deal worth up to £70million.

He developed the reputation as one of Europe’s brightest young talents and Frank Lampard took no time in signing him in the summer.

But unfortunately, Havertz has been unable to produce his best under Frank Lampard.

“Kai Havertz was the main man at Leverkusen last season,” Schwarzer said.

“He came out of himself more and dominated games more for longer periods of time.

“I get the feeling he needs to be that focal point, focal player. Needs to be the biggest star player.

“Everything needs to go through him, that’s not happening at Chelsea. He’s not even in the game for most of the time.”
