Chelsea manager Lampard backs struggling Raheem Sterling to bounce back

Raheem Sterling is enduring one of the worst campaigns this year.

The England international signed for Chelsea in a deal worth £47.5m from Manchester City last summer.

He has scored only four goals and produced just two assists in 24 league appearances.

He has failed to find the back of the net in the Premier League since January 1.

This has been a horrid season for the former Liverpool winger and Sterling expects to turn his overall season with some impressive displays in the final games.

Manager Frank Lampard believes Sterling is still one of the best players in England despite his poor campaign.

“Raheem has had an incredible career and I think I said recently that I have the last three years talking to younger wingers who I have worked with showing videos of him at the back post or defensively what he does,” Lampard said.

“You cannot take away from him everything he has done for Manchester City and England.

“Maybe the form of the season this year hasn’t been great but there are always contributing factors to individual form.”
