Chelsea makes breakthrough in their efforts to appoint Enzo Maresca

Chelsea have made another breakthrough in their efforts to appoint Leicester City’s Enzo Maresca as their new head coach. Maresca is likely to replace Pocettino who was sacked by board last week.

Mauricio Pochettino departed his role by mutual consent. Four names have been finalised and Chelsea will soon announce the name of the new manager at Stamford Bridge ahead of the new season.

Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna is also on the radar. Brentford’s Thomas Frank and former Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi are also on the wishlist. Still, Maresca is their preference.

Chelsea had formally approached their Leicester counterparts to request permission to speak with the Italian. As per the reports of Sky Sports News, the Championship winners have now given the green light for the Blues to hold negotiations with him.

Chelsea are prepared to meet a release clause of the 44-year-old that is said to be between £8m and £10m.
