Chelsea make a promising breakthrough in their chase for Ben Chilwell

Chelsea’s number one target Ben Chilwell of Leicester City might finally be on his way to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have been chasing a number of new players this season with their focus primarily in defense now after securing the signings of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech. 

If reports are to be believed – Chelsea are entering the summer market with the intention of revamping their entire defense. Ben Chilwell, has surfaced as a top contender on Chelsea’s wishlist for left-backs this summer. 

The 23-year-old English defender broke into the scene two years ago with the Foxes and has come to the fore as a quality left-back this season after a series of impressive performances with club and country. 

He is valued highly by the club from the mid-west who had slapped a hefty price tag on the promising player. However, after weeks of negotiation, the reports coming out of West London is that Chelsea has finally made a breakthrough in their talks. 

Leicester City are reportedly ready to hash down the price to a £50m package with add-ons instead of the £75m they were previously demanding. 

It would allow Lampard to piece together yet another piece of his Stamford Bridge puzzle and move on to the next position he needs to address.
