Chelsea are plotting a bold defensive overhaul ahead of the summer transfer window, with TEAMtalk reporting that the Blues are eyeing a £90 million double swoop for centre-backs Dean Huijsen and Marc Guehi.

Chelsea Target Ambitious £90m Double Deal for Huijsen and Guehi in Summer Overhaul

As Enzo Maresca gears up for his first full summer in charge, bolstering the backline is emerging as a top priority.

Huijsen, currently starring for Bournemouth, has been one of the Premier League’s breakout performers this season.

The 20-year-old Spanish international—on loan from Juventus—has drawn interest from some of Europe’s elite, including Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Liverpool.

With a £50 million release clause in place, Chelsea are aware they’ll face stiff competition but remain determined to bring him to Stamford Bridge.

Guehi, on the other hand, is a name familiar to the Chelsea faithful. The 24-year-old Crystal Palace defender came through the club’s academy but left in 2021 to find first-team football.

Now an England regular and a commanding presence at the back, Guehi has grown into one of the most consistent defenders in the league.

With his contract at Palace set to expire in 2026, the Eagles are reportedly open to selling him this summer—valuing him at around £40 million—to avoid losing him for free later.

Sources close to TEAMtalk indicate that Chelsea’s pursuit of both players hinges on Champions League qualification.

The Blues currently sit fifth in the Premier League, level on points with Nottingham Forest but with fewer games remaining.

Securing a top-four finish is seen as crucial to convincing both Huijsen and Guehi to join.

Chelsea are also preparing for a busy window in terms of outgoings.

Fraser Fletcher reports that up to six players could be sold, including summer signing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, while the club have decided to keep hold of star man Cole Palmer despite interest from rivals.

As Chelsea plan a return to the top of English football, their intent to land two of the league’s most sought-after defenders signals a serious statement of ambition.
