Chelsea Looking To Bring In Experienced Defender Lewis Dunk

Chelsea are considering a move for Brighton And Hove Albion defender, Lewis Dunk.

According to Football Insider, Frank Lampard admires the 28-year-old who has played a huge part in keeping Brighton safe from relegation this term.

Dunk has previously drawn interest from the likes of other Premier League giants like Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal. A move never really materialized due to Brighton’s audacious asking price of £50 million and more. However, due to the ongoing health crisis, valuation of players have dipped significantly.

Wilfried Zaha, who was being priced at £70 million last summer is reportedly available for only £30 million now. Chelsea could expect a similar dip in Premier League talents who are a bit more advanced in their career. Dunk at 28, has started 110 of Brighton’s last 114 Premier League games.

He is a resolute and dependable figure for the Seagulls backline. Reports claim that he could be worth £30 million which is agreeable for Chelsea. The Blues have already dished out heavily for Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner and are in line to get Kai Havertz as well. Bringing in more recruitments will be difficult at those price points.

Dunk could replace either Antonio Rudiger or Andreas Christensen in the Blues backline since neither have greatly impressed this season. Lampard wants to offload a number of his defenders, starting with Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri.
