Loftus Cheek impressed on his loan spell at Crystal Palace

Roben Loftus-Cheek came through the ranks of Chelsea and made his senior debut for the club in 2014. The classy midfielder is held in high regard by those in west London.

But the 22 year old couldn’t establish himself as a regular for the Blue’s at the path was blocked by big money signings. He made just 32 appearances for the club before joining Crystal Palace on a season long loan last summer in order to get more first team football.

Despite struggling with injuries, Loftus-Cheek was impressive with his performances for the Eagles and scored two goals and assisted three in 24 appearances. He has shown what he is capable of when given regular game time, with senior international recognition coming his way with England.

Loftus Cheek will return to the Chelsea for Pre-season

The England International will return to Chelsea at the end of the season but his future is still uncertain. The Glaziers have shown their interest in signing the youngster on a permanent transfer.

Loftus-Cheek is aware that he has to make a decision about his future but first wants to return to his parent club for Pre-Season.

Quizzed on his future by the Daily Mail, Loftus-Cheek said: “I haven’t made a decision on that yet but as things stand I plan to be back at Chelsea for pre-season.

“Being at Palace has been good. Roy is a really good coach and a really nice person.

“All the lads like him. But I need to see what happens this summer and right now I’m focused on staying fit and finishing the season well.”

He even admitted that he should have left the Premier League giants sooner to find more competitive minutes.

“I heard it a lot that I was going to be the one to break through [from the academy] but I wish I’d let that go earlier than I did,” he added.

“I realized to keep improving I needed to play more. It wasn’t easy not getting many chances but I knew I just had to keep working hard in training and take the opportunities when they came.”
