Chelsea signed Matt Miazga, the USA international centre back a few seasons ago.

In his first spell at the club, he was young and inexperienced and failed to impress. Eventually as it always happens in Chelsea, the youngster was sent out on loan multiple times.

Now that his loan spell is over, he has come back to the club and Miazga is hopeful of getting another crack at the team and wants to get a spot on the squad.

He said, “It’s going to be an interesting few weeks coming up, hopefully. Obviously, my main focus is the Gold Cup with the national team and contributing here [with the United States].

“I’ve been in touch with my agent and Chelsea. We’re due to speak with Chelsea very soon and see what’s next.”

“Obviously there’s news now that Sarri is leaving, so you never know what can happen with the coaches, if they want to take a look at you.

“I had a lot of good learning experiences in France [at Nantes] playing in the beginning, and then a new coach coming in and having to re-earn their trust.

“And then going to Reading and playing football matches under a lot of pressure in a relegation battle. I thought I grew a lot this year.”
